I'm about to pick up bax from daycare, feeling my daylong headache from random bouts of sadness and grief... and... look what I get in the mail.
My doctoral diploma.
There it is.
Done and Done.
He would be so EFFing psyched right now.
Holy crap.
Let's go drink cocktails, shall we?

Boy, don't I feel like a dingleberry now. Not only do I NOT have a doctoral diploma, I can't even read one. Still very happy for YOU, Danna!
I think this was Mike's present to you.
You never cease to amaze me.
My friend Eva forwarded this link to me, and urged me to watch it.

You may have seen it, as it's been circulating for a few weeks now. It is a video of a professor giving a lecture in a venue called "the last lecture" at Carnegie-Mellon. Though it is supposed to be a hypothetical last lecture, for this young professor, it is actually his last. He is dying of pancreatic cancer. He treats his death in such a profoundly matter-of-fact way, but he sees his life in very clear ways. His lessons learned are a bit Oprah-ish, I was completely captivated, particularly as someone who teaches. I'd like to hear what you think of it. Amy J.
The professor was actually on Oprah yesterday. He made quite an impact. He finishes it by saying he didnt write it for the 400 who attended, he wrote it for three people and then a picture of him and his three children, all under 5? flash on the screen. I know you can relate.
